There are millions of people unemployed today and many of them as a result of a lay off. In the past decade there have been tens of thousands of people laid off from there jobs, and today lay offs continue. The unemployment rate is at an all time high. What many people don’t realize is that these people suffer more than most think. The first thing to go when a person is laid off is his/her paycheck. That alone can be horrible, now take away the company insurance that the entire family has been counting on for years and you have an absolute tragedy. You end up thousands upon thousands of uninsured families. Not only is this detrimental to the millions of people that have no insurance, but it is also detrimental to the American tax payer because they are left to foot the bill for emergency medical care that people cannot pay for. The solution, it would seem is for these families that have been struck by the economical crunch to slowly rebuild their lives and in the process try and obtain cheap family health insurance rates.
Even people with quite low paying jobs can find some sort of basic coverage plan just incase something should come. Let’s face it, the coverage they get may not be what they have been accustomed to, however, it will surely pick up the bill in the event of a major emergency or illness. In addition, a basic plan will usually help offset the cost of prescription drugs as well. As long as a family has any type of income, it would be a wise choice to do whatever they can to maintain some sort of insurance coverage, especially for the children who are bound to need basic insurance just to participate in school sports. Until a person has really had to live without medical insurance, they have no idea just how hard it can be. Most doctors will not even schedule an appointment with a person unless they can pay a certain portion up front. In addition, many doctor’s offices have signs which let people know that full payment is due upon services rendered.
